Where Would Arsenal be Without RVP?

I’ll tell you where; 17th. Yes, you heard. Remove Robin Van Persie’s goals from Arsenal’s campaign and they’d be right down there scrapping for their lives. Of course this statistic isn’t exactly accurate, unless of course they’d replaced him with Mr. Wenger himself, his replacement, I’m sure, would have scored enough goals for the Gunners to be in the top half.

The point I’m trying to make is not that Arsenal are a one-man-team, or that they would be a Championship team without the Dutchman. What I’m trying to say is that Robin Van Persie is not only a joy to watch if you’re an Arsenal fan, but for us impartial football fans too.

When it comes to the big teams in the Premier league, I do have my favourites – I’d much rather certain teams won than others, but ultimately when I spend endless hours watching matches, I want to be entertained. And that’s what Robin is, an entertainer. Rarely in recent years have I seen a player in English football who is such a joy to watch. RVP not only has the attributes that we all love to watch (flair, pace, trickery and a sledgehammer of a left foot), he’s got those superb attributes we just don’t see enough in modern football. He’s a model professional, a hard worker, a leader and a consistent performer.

Arsenal’s main man scored another superb brace today, and is not only running away with the Premier league golden boot, he seems to be hosting the goal of the season competition all by himself. Robin has always had the potential to be one of the greats, not just in Premiership but in world football, and this season finds himself injury-free (touch wood) and is offering what we always suspected he might. Performances this season have secured the Dutch striker a place not just in Arsenal’s history books, but in English football’s. Lets all of us neutral’s pray for he’s here in the UK for a long time yet.

RVP, The North Stand Salutes you!

Ben
