The Season So Far in Statistics

It’s been an enthralling season so far, new names being thrown around in the title race, the promoted teams pulling off some huge scalps and some big boys battling it out to stay in the league. Here are some of the most interesting (and often peculiar) stats for the season so far.

  • QPR, with one of the leakiest defences in the league, have conceded at least one goal in their last 17 league matches.
  • Manchester City have won every single home match so far this season in the league, and look on course to become the first team to complete a premier league season with a 100% home record.
  • Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is the youngest player to have notched this season, scoring for the Gunners at the age of just 18.
  • Unsurprisingly, the oldest goalscorers in the league belong to Manchester United, some guys by the name of Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes. Giggs is the only player to score in every premier league season  since it began.
  • The most popular scoreline in the league this season has been 1-2 to the away team.
  • Man City’s Sergio Aguero is the most subbed player in the league, being replaced in 18 of their games.
  • Although it’s Man City who lead the way in the premier league, if you were to take the table from purely away games, Man United would lead by 6 points.
  • Blackburn’s Adam Henley is the youngest player to turn out in the league this season, aged just 17. Ross Barkley of Everton and QPR’s Bruno Andrade are the only other 17 year olds to make appearances this season.
